All eyes were glued to the dazzling stage set at the 2016 MTV Awards held on Sunday, August 28 at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. On stage was the very talented, very gorgeous Barbadian singer who had taken the music world by storm with her debut studio album debut studio album Music of the Sun, released more than 10 years ago.
On Sunday, wearing a girly pink T-shirt with the words Hood By Air emblazoned across her chest, Rihanna launched the MTV Video Music Awards night with a continuous and awesome rendition of some of her most famous hit singles. The audience went into rapture as she sang her heart out on the stage, along with a group of highly energetic dancers. Famous celebrities like Ex-super model Naomi Campbell, Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross and singer Mary J. Blige, each was called on stage to introduce Rihanna’s mesmerizing performances.
This island girl has certainly come a long way. This was proved to the world once again when she was conferred MTV’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The other famous celebs who have been honored in the past with this award are Kanye West, Britney Spears, and so on. This award commemorates the personalities who have contributed the maximum to changing the face of pop music. That surely does describe Rihanna.
