Billboard Music Awards 2016 –A Review Of Highlights


This year the Billboard Music Award function, held at LA on May 22, 2016, lasted 3 and a half hours exciting and luring fans to enjoy every second of it. The smart and pretty ladies Celine Dion, Rihanna, Madonna and Britney Spears conquered the hearts of millions of fans as they reigned over the stage.

Special awards given out included the following:-

· Britney Spears was given the famous Millennium Award.
· Celine Dion was declared the Icon
· The Top Hot 100 Artist went to The Weeknd
· The Top Hot 100 Song was captured by Wiz Khalifa feat, Charlie Puth in See You Again”
· The Top Country Song went to Thomas Rhett, “Die A Happy Man”
· Justin Bieber grabbed the Top Male Artist
· The Top Album was given to Adele, 25
· The Top R&B Song went to The Weeknd, “The Hills”
· The Billboard Chart-Achievement Award: Rihanna
· Billboard Top Artist was given to Adele

What could be improved?

The Anchor Ludacris who hosted the show could have tried more to keep the enthusiasm of the crowd up rather than spoil it with cringe-worthy commentary. The audiences of the show along with the anchors are supposed to have ea fun evening out. However, at the Billboard Music Award 2016, this was not the case. The Anchors tried to pull off jokes and lame cracks which fell flat on the audience. Also, Lukas Forchhammer and his band came with a poor performance of what should have been a pleasant experience.

On March 18th, 2016, the seventeenth pop album by Iggy Pop was released. Loma Vista Recordings released this album. The producer is Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age. The famous Matt Helders played the drums. Dean Fertita was in charge of the guitar.

Sources reveal that this may be his Last album. Those who saw the show would surely miss his performances if it is indeed his last show. At 68 years he gave the audience one of his best performances. Tossing away his jacket, he rocked on the stage, hurling himself completely into the mood. The album showcases the avante-rock frisson he used to create along with David Bowie. Iggy made his debut with his solo album, The Idiot.

This album was recorded in secrecy and depicts an act which portrays public mourning.

Iggy’s legacy is expressed in more of an oblique fashion throughout this album, with the aid of hypnotic and bass-battering grooves. The album reasserts Iggy’s facility with many simple and suggestive phrases. Post pop depression is part of the result of Iggy’s mourning for his lifetime friend and career savior. The entire album is filled with a tinge of melancholy.

Listeners can also catch more than one moments of reflection being silently made. Yet it is not only immersed in the music of sorrow. There are even creepy pickup lines like “I’m gonna break into your heart/ I’m gonna crawl under your skin”. While paying attention to the album, you can see how Iggy has managed to include his sentiments while he was on the bumpy roller coaster trip to success.

This album is Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen’s third studio album . The emotion was released in Japan, on June 24, 2015, and on August 21, 2015, worldwide. This album captured the hearts of so many fans and received tonnes of positive reviews. It was received with so much of enthusiasm among the fans. It also got nominated for the Polaris Music Prize and entered a number of year-end lists. However, upon release, the performance was not up to the mark and sadly to say, winning the Grammy remained a far dream. The greater shock for fans is that it was not even nominated for the award. Anyway, the Album bagged the prize for pop album of 2015, which shows that fans never let their favorites down.

Drake and his Hotline Bling
The Canadian rapper Drake drove thousands of fans crazy with his song Hotline Bling. His dance that accompanied the video was outstanding. It drove millions of fans into a frenzy. Hotline Bling is an incredible musical and dance extravaganza. You will not be left with an option to see it only once. The man has created magic with his performance. Drake debuted the album along with one of the two Meek Mill disses, “Charged Up “on Apple Music. It turned out to be a massive hit and rocked the pop world.
However, all the fans were terribly disappointed when this piece of magic failed to even get nominated for the Grammy.
